Robbie Brennan Mattock Rangers

Mattock Rangers moved to the top of Division 1 on score difference thanks to this 3-10 to 0-9 win over Nh Mairtin at Monasterboice.

Despite conceding the opening score of the game, Mattock dominated the remainder of the half with Robbie Brennan's goal on 26 minutes sending his side in with a 1-7 to 0-3 advantage at the break.

The Mairtins tried hard to close the gap in the second half but goals from David Reid and Brian Corcoran ensured that they couldn't get back into the game as Mattock returned home with victory.

Dreadnots followed up their opening day win over the Blues with an impressive 2-12 to 0-12 victory over St Marys in Clogherhead on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors started brightly and went 0-5 to 0-2 after ten minutes, but the Dreadnots hit back in fine fashion as goals from Anthony Williams and Derek Shevlin help the Dreadnots lead by 2-5 to 0-8 at the break.

The Ardee side battled throughout the second half but hosts were in no mood to surrender their advantage which they stretched to six by the time the final whistle sounded.

For the second successive game, St Patricks laid the foundations for their victory with a strong first half display as they recorded a 0-12 to 0-7 win over O Raghallaighs in Drogheda.

Paddy Keenan, who would finish with a tally of five points, kicked the first score of the game on six minutes, while Daniel O'Connor, Eoin O'Connor and Aidan McCann were all on target as the visitors went in leading by 0-8 to 0-1.

The O Raghallaighs came into the game in the second half and had reduced the gap to four points inside the closing ten minutes. However, the Pats defended well in the dying moments and claimed the victory.

Kilkerley Emmets picked up their first points of the season when a 1-6 to 0-7 win over Newtown Blues saw the Drogheda men suffer a second successive defeat.

The crucial goal arrived in the first half from the boot of Shane Lennon after a good move. That helped the Emmets to lead by 1-3 to 0-2 at the break and leave the Blues to rue a series of missed chances.

With Hugh McGinn and Colm Judge among the scores, the Drogheda men did fight back in the second half but Kilkerley held out for the win despite losing midfielder, Ciaran Bellew to a second yellow card.

The Sean O'Mahonys joined the group on four points at the head of the table when they recorded a 0-9 to 0-7 win over a St Fechins side who have yet to get off the mark in Division 1.

Conor Finnegan and Ronan Holcroft were prominent for their respective sides in this repeat of the Intermediate Championship Final as the Dundalk men went in at the break with a 0-4 to 0-3 lead.

The teams were level with ten minutes to play but late points from Conor Finnegan and Stephen Kilcoyne secured the win for the visitors.

O'Connell's got their first win in the division one league at the Grove on Sunday with a five point victory over the Gaels in a keenly contested game.

The hosts hit the net straight from the throw-in through Cian Doyle with Niall Conlon adding a second soon after. However, the Gaels gave themselves hope before the break as a Sean McCann goal reduced the gap to 2-4 to 1-3.

Despite losing Gary Shevlin to a red card, the Gaels cut the gap to two points with five minutes to play. However, points from Conlon, Paul McKeever and Stuart Reynolds secured the win for O'Connells and leave the Gaels still awaiting their first win.
