St Fechins V Ardee St Marys (11.00am Pairc Naomh Feichin)

Ardee St Marys travelled to Termonfeckin to take on St Fechins in the quarter final of the Paddy Sheelan Cup. There was a cross wind blowing but it did probably suit the Ardee St Marys in the first half.  Darren Clarke got the Marys off to a good start with a point and two minutes later Ronan Carroll put the Marys two points up.  The Marys then had a good goal opportunity but Darren Clarke was unlucky when his shot came back off the post.  Ten minutes gone and Barry Faulkner made a great run up the field and laid it off to Darren Clarke for his second and the Marys third of the game.  Thirteen minutes into the game Paudy Clarke was at the end of a great move from the back right up the field to extend the ardee men's lead.  Again the Marys split the Fechins defence apart and Rj Callaghan was on hand to find the back of the net and put the Marys 1-4 to 0-0 up.  The Marys dominance was showing as Darren Clarke had a free on the 40 yards line, he lobbed the ball into the box, Karl Faulkner knocked it down to Ronan Carroll who calmly found the net.  The Fechins had a good bit of the ball but the Marys defence stood solid each time they came up the field.   On the 27th Minute Ronan Carroll took a great point with the outside of his left foot.    On the 28th minute the Fechins got their first score of the game after a mistake in the Marys defence let them one on one with duane Crosby and they found the back of the net.

Robbie Leavy scored a point a minute after the restart to extend the Marys lead.  Ardee St Marys then got a free from close range and there was no chance Darren Clarke was going to miss.  Then in the 38th minute the Marys were dealt a blow as Darren Clarke got a black card for a foul, Mark Fay was the man to replace him.   The Fechins then got their first point of the second half from a free kick.  The Fechins then followed up with another point from a dead ball.  In the 45th min substitute Mark Fay was at the end of a good move to slot the ball over the bar.  The Fechins then got another point from a free kick.  Ronan Carroll got the Marys back on the scoreboard with a great point from distance.  The Fechins again scored from a free kick.  It was a low scoring second half but was by no means boring, the Marys worked well but just failed to get the ball over the bar.

Best for Ardee St Marys were Robbie Leavy, Kian Moran, Conor Keenan and Ronan Carroll
