FL3 round-up: Westerns see off Sean McDermotts

Westerns bounced back from the disappointment of just missing out on the Division 3 title when they finished their campaign with a comfortable 4-8 to 1-11 win over Sean McDermotts on Saturday evening.

First half goals from Tommy Durnin and Aidan McGarrell (2), helped the Reaghstown side lead by 3-4 to 1-6 lead, with Declan Carroll grabbing the McDermotts goal.

The Westerns retained control in the second half and added their fourth goal through Ciaran Campbell to seal the win.

Meanwhile, John Mitchels completed their season on a high with a 3-7 to 1-4 win over Stabannon.

Neither side were able to qualify for the play-offs ahead of this encounter which saw the Mitchels lead by 2-4 to 1-3 at the break, with Aidan Shevlin scoring the Stabannon goal.

The Ballybailie side added a third goal in the second half to seal the nine-point win.

The remaining game between Nh Malachi and Glen Emmets didn't go ahead with the clubs due to meet in the promotion play-off on Thursday night.

The Division 2 clash between Clan na Gael and St Josephs scheduled for Sunday morning was called off.
