Naomh Fionnbarra are just one win away from securing their return to Division 2 football following this comprehensive win away to Cuchulainn Gaels on Saturday evening.

The league leaders went into the game chasing their 11th straight victory and as expected they dominated from the opening whistle before running out winners by 10-25 to 0-6.

That wasn't the only big score of the weekend as Nh Malachi confirmed their place in the play-offs when they had little difficulty in seeing off the challenge of St Nicholas in Drogheda.

It was one-way traffic from the outset for the Courtbane men who had their top-scorer in Jason Clarke who finished the evening with a personal tally of 2-7.

Donal Begley also managed two goals while Kevin Rogers also hit the net in the 5-22 to 1-4 victory.

Lannleire maintained their challenge for a play-off place when Paul Callan inspired them to a 1-17 to 0-4 win over Dowdallshill at Pairc Ui Mhuiri on Friday evening.

Callan, who finished with 1-9 to his credit, hit the only goal of the game in the 10th minute to help establish a 1-9 to 0-2 advantage at half time.

The second half saw the Dunleer men continue to dominate and with Carlos Lambe, Colin Murphy and Alan Murphy all on target, they stretched the lead to 16 points at the end.

Sean McDermotts also remain in contention for a top-five finish after they produced a strong second half display to defeat John Mitchels by 1-18 to 1-7.

The first half was a closely contested affair but with Tony Kelly and Aaron Myles leading they way, the Seans were 0-10 to 1-4 ahead at the break.

With Lorcan Ludden adding to the tally in the second period the McDermotts strengthened their grip on proceedings and sealed the win with a Kevin Carroll goal.

Stabannon kept the pressure on the teams above them in the race for play-off places as they defeated an understrength St Kevins by 4-17 to 2-4 on Saturday evening.

Goals from Thomas McBride and Thomas Campbell had the Parnells well on their way at the break as they led by 2-10 to 0-2.

Further goals from Daniel Bannon and Aidan Shevlin in the second period put the seal on a comfortable win.
