Round 3 of the Gerry Reilly Cup

The third round of the Gerry Reilly Cup takes place this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. This is the 25th Anniversary of the popular Under 16 football competition is ran by the Oldcastle club.

Meath have entered two teams in to the competition.

On Saturday Westmeath take on Louth. Both counties have won one and lost one. Louth lost heavily to Dublin and defeated Meath. Westmeath lost to the Dubs and beat the home county 3-13 to 4-2.

Sunday sees the clash of favourites Dublin with Meath at 4.00. The Dubs have won their opening two games with ease while Meath have struggled to fine good form. At 7.30 Wicklow take on Cavan. The winners of this game will advance to the final. The Garden county have shown some impressive form so far. A last minute goal clinched a great win over Meath in round 1 while two late goals earned them a share of the spoils with Monaghan. Cavan have won both their games. a 3-11 to 0-10 win over neighbours Monaghan in round 1 and an easy win over the home county, scoring seven goals, in round 2.

On Monday Monaghan take on Meath.

The two top teams from group A and B qualify for the gerry reilly Cup final. The second placed teams play in the Plate final while the teams in third place qualify for the Shield decider.

Saturday, 12th July
Gr B: Westmeath v Louth (4.00 pm)

Sunday, 13th July
Gr B: Meath v Dublin (4.00 pm)
Gr A: Wicklow v Cavan (7.30 pm)
 
Monday, 14th July
Gr A: Meath v Monaghan (7.30 pm)
