There were unsavoury scenes at the end of a Laois SHC 'A' semi-final clash on Saturday night.

Violence erupted three minutes from the end of the meeting of Clonaslee St Manman's and Castletown in Portlaoise after the latter side had netted a lucky second goal to move four points ahead.

A mass brawl involving players and supporters from both teams broke out when Manman's goalkeeper James Young clashed with an opposing forward seconds after the sliothar crossed the line. Young was one of three players dismissed when the action resumed.

Castletown advanced to a final meeting with Ballyfin Gaels on September 25th.
