Laois footballer make the relatively short journey to Cusack Park, Mullingar for their opening NFL Division Two clash on Sunday afternoon.

The O'Moore County take on a Westmeath side that went the whole of last year without a competitive win, although, they did pick up two in this year's O'Byrne Cup.

Laois looked impressive against Dublin in the early season competition and if they can reproduce that form on Sunday, they are sure to start with a win.

The return of Brendan Quigley is a huge boost, while the early season form of John O'Loughlin has been encouraging also.

Westmeath are formidable at home and Laois will have to be at their best to take the points here, but a win is imperative to ensure a good start to the campaign.
