Castletown and Slieve Bloom will field teams on their own in Laois

Castletown and Slieve Bloom will field teams on their own in Laois this year after ending their amalgamation.

The neighbouring clubs were forced to merge in 2011 due to the ravages of emigration and fielded hurling teams under the name of Castletown-Slieve Bloom at senior and junior level, as well as at junior 'C' level in football.

But they have decided to go it alone in the coming year.
