Hurling top scorers: Wham-bam Callanan

Seamus Callanan's haul of 2-4 in the All-Ireland semi-final has put him within touching distance of Paul Shiels in the hurling top scorer chart.

Callanan has cut the gap to just eight points between him and Antrim's Paul Shiels. The Ulster man bagged 1-64 (67) in seven games with Callanan now on 7-38 (59) from five.

With 7-11 Callanan is now also the leading scorer from play.

The Tipperary ace has seven goals to his name, making him the leading goalscorer in championship 2014. Wexford's Conor McDonald has five majors, with PJ O'Connell (Antrim), Shane Dowling (Limerick) and Derek McNicholas (Westmeath) on four each.

The highest individual scoring feat in the championship so far is Pat Horgan's 2-11 against Clare and Callanan's 3-8 v Galway.

The highest average score belongs to Limerick's Shane Dowling with 12.0 points per game, which is marginally better than Callanan's 11.8.
