Lades NFL: Disappointing finish for Meath

Meath's Blathnaid Keogh

Meath 0-13  Leitrim 3-8

Meath Ladies travelled to Ballinamore in County Leitrim today for the final round of the Lidl National Football league 2017. Meath were without manager Eoin Hennessy who stepped down earlier in the week.

Hopes were high on finishing a rather lack lustre campaign on a high! Unfortunately this was not to be the case. Leitrim hit the Royals for three goals in the first half and once again this was to be their undoing. Leitrim outscored the visitors 3-4 to 5 points.

The second half was a rather different affair and the Meath girls fought tooth and nail and actually outscored their opponents by eight points to four. Sadly this wasn't to be enough. Meath will now look to regroup for the Intermediate Championship and hope that things will improve over the next few weeks. Meath eventually finished in sixth position on the table. They have a lot of work done and certainly a lot more to do. The mood in the camp is positive and with a little bit of luck anything can happen. A new management team will hopefully be appointed in the very near future.
