The action in the TG4 Ladies Football Championships is concentrated in Leinster this weekend as their provincial championship swings into action. 

Sunday will see the defending champions; Dublin take on their great rivals Laois in their TG4 Leinster Senior Championship opener whilst Meath will take on Westmeath in the other Senior championship match. In the TG4 Intermediate Championship Louth will play their first championship match since winning the TG4 Junior All Ireland title in Croke Park last September when they host Offaly in Dundalk. Wicklow will take on Wexford in the other Intermediate Championship opener.

TG4 Leinster Senior Football Championship

Meath v Westmeath, Summerhill, 2pm (C.Forde)

Meath will go into this match as the underdogs after struggling throughout their Lidl National Football League campaign that ultimately ended in relegation to Division 3. Westmeath, on the other hand, were hugely impressive as they battled their way through to the Division 2 decider and although they were unsuccessful they will have taken plenty of positives from their League campaign. Westmeath are a team that are dotted throughout with some real quality, stars like Maud Anne Foley, Fiona Claffey and Leona Archibald will mean that Emma Troy and her Meath colleagues will have to be on top form to produce a surprise result.

Dublin v Laois, Naomh Mearnóg, 2:00pm (J. Murphy)

Dublin will be setting out on the trail of a 5^th consecutive TG4 Leinster Championship title when they meet Laois at 2pm on Sunday. Dublin will undoubtedly go into this match as favourites as they play at home and have a team packed full of some of the most talented footballers in the country. Laois have endured a few barren years of late and are coming off the back of a League campaign that saw them battle successfully against relegation from division 2. At the other end of the spectrum is Dublin who reached the knock out stages in Division 1 although, they will be on guard after suffering three defeats in a row to end their Lidl NFL campaign. Laois have nothing to lose in this fixture, few will expect them to win against the All Ireland Finalists of the last 2 years and this may prompt them to produce a big performance. However, Dublin can call on class players like Sinead Aherne, Sinead Finnegan, Carla Rowe and Lyndsey Davey as well as the pick of the Under 21 team that claimed All Ireland glory for the third year in a row just last weekend.

TG4 Leinster Intermediate Football Championship

Louth v Offaly, Geraldines GFC, 2:00pm (D. McKittrick)

Louth will play their first match in the Intermediate grade when they take on Offaly in the first round of the TG4 Leinster Football Championship. This is an experienced Louth side that boasts players of the class of Paula Murray, Kate Flood and team captain Michelle McMahon. Offaly had a good League campaign as they consolidated their place in Division 3 and will hope to carry that form through to this match. Their star player is Mairead Daly at corner forward and young gun Roisin Egan is also a player of great potential.

Wicklow v Wexford, Aughrim GAA Grounds, 3:00pm (A. Gallagher)

Wicklow were the form team throughout the Lidl Division 4 League campaign as they topped the table heading into the knock out stages. Although they were to fall to semi final defeat there is a feel good factor in the Garden County and with some stars like Jackie Kinch they are capable of maintaining that form. Wexford will want to make sure that they maintain the form that saw them battle towards the top of the Division 3 table throughout the year. They are considered to be amongst the favourites for the Leinster Intermediate crown and will want to justify that billing this weekend. Expect a very close battle between these two up and coming young teams.
