16-year-old Aoife McColgan from the most northerly club in Ireland has enjoyed a whirlwind start to her Donegal career.

The girl from Malin was called into the senior panel just six weeks ago and made her debut in Saturday's Lidl National League Division Two final defeat of Westmeath.

A busload of friends and team-mates made the 9-hour round trip and sang Aoife's name after she made a string of superb saves.

"Thankfully I had a half-decent game in front of them because they've all helped me from Under-12," says modest McColgan.

"She's a revelation," says assistant manager Sean O'Kane. "She's the best I've seen".
