Fr Murphy's Ladies notes

May 25, 2015

Fr Murphy's Ladies were delighted to win the shield at the Tir Chonaill Gaels 7's on Saturday in Greenford

Three goals in the first game by Laois girl Laura Dunne, set Fr Murphy's on their way to a shield final with East London Tomas Mac Curtains.
The rain had just started to fall at Greenford before the start of the final which mad the ball slippery, but all in all the final was a brilliant game of Football.
Fr Murphy's went close early on but it was McCurtains who raced into a four point lead, this was halved by the break with points from Laura Dunne and Charlotte Faughnan.
The girls in purple & gold came out on fire at the start of the second half, the pulled level and the Laura Dunne fielded a ball rounded the defence and goaled, however disaster struck when a penalty was harshly awarded against them, which was despatched to the net to leave the sides level again, in the dying seconds Fr Murphy's worked the ball up the field where it was grabbed out wide by Mairead Hogan, from Burgess, Tipperary, who turned and hit a delightful point, from almost the touchline, game over Fr Murphy's 1-06 Tomas Mac Curtain's 1-05.

Captain Sarah Burns, From Carrickedmond, County Longford, lifted the trophy on behalf of Fr Murphy's
