Ladies JFC: Title for Dee Rangers

Dee Rangers coasted to the Meath Ladies Junior Football Championship title with a 28 point win over Dunsany in the first final of a three card programme at Ashbourne

Dee Rangers were keen to atone for last years final defeat at the hands of Simonstown.

The winners were never in trouble and from the off dominated the game. Three quick points from Grace Malone, Kelly Farrelly and Lisa Young set the tone for the game. Becks Goodwin followed up with the games first goal. Five more unanswered points followed through Samantha Martin (2), Goodwin and Young (2) to put the winners 1-8 to 0-0 up after 15 minutes. Dunsany came back with three points of their own through Noreen Sheridan, Lisa Donnelly and Megan Tynne. Any hope of a come back were soon put to bed when Malone and Young got in for two quick gaols and Rangers went in at the break 3-9 to 0-4 up.

There was no let up in the early stages of the second half. Full forward Goodwin got in for her second goal soon after the throw in while Samatha Martin and Sinead Careolan quickly followed with points. Dunsany replied with a Michelle Horan goal and a point from Tracy King. Kings point was their last score of the game as Dee Rangers took over.

Goodwin raised her third green flag, midfielder Emma Rafferty found the net, Young (2) Martin, Kelly Farrelly added points before substitute Aoife Conlon closed out the scoring with a goal to spark wild scenes of jubilation.

After the game Aisling Clery presented the JFC Cup to Dee Rangers joint captains Briona Rowe and Aoife Conlon while Becks Goodwin picked up the palyer of the match award.
