Confey v Maynooth Ist round of Championship

Confey opened the scoring with a point from Siofra Daly followed by three more from Deirdre Gately and Paula Doran . It seemed to be all Confey in the 1st ten minutes however Maynooth had a lot of possession and worked hard to get scores and also had a few wides but with good work from Simone Gilbert putting the ball into the forwards the scores came. Confey were dominant in midfield with excellent work from Rachel Divilly, Niamh Quinn and Cj Hogan they worked the ball into the forwards with goals from Gill Behan and points from Rachel Divilly Cj Hogan and Sunniva Smith they were well in control and went in at halftime 3.12 to 6pts.
Maynooth started the 2nd half with a flying start with three unanswered points and were working really hard and putting the Confey defence under pressure, Confey keeper Mairead Scalon making some great saves. Simone Gilbert had a few goal chances only to see them agonisingly go wide. Maynooth they then added three more points to the score. Confey won a free and dropped the ball into the square resulting in the Maynooth keeper getting a knock and had to go off . Siofra Daly took precession from a kick out and ran a good distance fired a shot that went into the net. Confey added three more points from Paula Doran Rebecca Harte and Gill Behan to give the Confey girls a comfortable opening round win.
