What are the secrets to Brian Cody's success as Kilkenny senior hurling manager?

"I don't really know the right answer," Jackie Tyrrell answered to The Irish Daily Star ahead of Sunday's Leinster SHC final showdown with Galway.

"I just see what he does - you can see in his body language as the year gets on, he gets more and more into training and, I don't know, he just has this ability.

"I suppose he's just able to read players and certain players don't need to be spoken to at all. Some lads need to be spoken to.

"He has a great ability of being able to deal with lads differently and get them going. Jonjo Farrell is a perfect example of that but I'd say his man-management of players is excellent and that probably feeds a lot into it.

"There could be someone on the bench looking at Jonjo going, 'right if I stay going, I could get in there'.

"I'd imagine that genuineness that Brian says and shows it is his team sheet selection then.

"That keeps lads going who are not seen to be featuring in a team and are there for a few years."
