Collins impressed by Carey

Kerry's Daniel Collins celebrates

Kerry captain Daniel Collins feels that manager Ciaran Carey has certainly brought them on from where his predecessor left off.

The Kingdom begin their National Hurling League campaign against Laois at O'Moore Park on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

Carey took over from Tipperary native Eamonn Kelly who is now managing Offaly this year. Kelly had done great work with the Kerry squad last year.

If there was a fear that they might not be able to push on from that then Carey's arrival has quashed any thoughts of that, according to the new captain.

"He's really improved things and he's bringing a different method, training is different, his mentality is different," Collins told the Kerryman.

"It's been really good and we've really kicked on I think so far. We won't really know our progress until we're into the league after that.

"I think the players are confident with the work we've put in and especially the performances over the last couple of weeks that we feel that's our way of staying in the division, beating Laois and you can target whoever you want then if you win the game."
