No appointments expected on Leeside tonight

It's unlikely that the new Cork football or hurling manager will be named at tonight's County Board meeting.

The long-running process of finding new managers is sure to be discussed in detail but it is understood that the county committee is not yet in a position to ratify anybody.

The Rebels are taking their time, determined to get the appointments right, with Brian Cuthbert and Jimmy Barry-Murphy having stepped down in July and August respectively.

Former Cork U21 football manager John Cleary has withdrawn from the race to succeed Cuthbert, leaving Ronan McCarthy as the front runner, with Ephie Fitzgerald and Ned English also understood to be in contention.

Former selector / coach Kieran Kingston and 1990 All-Ireland winning captain Tomás Mulcahy are fighting it out to succeed JBM.
