What they said ... the weekend in quotes

"I was headbutted alright. But sure that's not for me to enforce the rules of the game. There was plenty of more things out there that the referee missed too."

Will the GAA's disciplinary chiefs follow up on Aidan O'Shea's claim this week?

"Look, it's senior football. We don't expect to come here and be untouched, don't get me wrong. But some of the jersey-pulling to the ground was very obvious at times, I didn't see as much action taken as I would have liked."

The performance of referee Joe McQuillan left a lot to be desired in the opinion of Mayo joint-manager Noel Connelly.

"I'll have to have a look at it. It would be very unfair of me to comment. Joe (McQuillan) made the decision based on whatever information he received. He made that call, as he did for the black cards and some other cards that might not have been given. We'll have to have a look at all those."

Jim Gavin adopted a diplomatic stance on Diarmuid Connolly's red card.

"It was frantic at the end, but that's championship football. We just tried to hang in for the full 76 or 77 minutes."

Mayo's never-say-die attitude stood to them according to top scorer Cillian O'Connor.

"We didn't perform in Killarney on the day. It's going to be a big ask (to beat Kerry) but we'll enjoy trying to do it."

Tipperary's minors will renew acquaintances with Kerry in the All-Ireland MFC decider and manager Charlie McKeever hopes they can make amends for their Munster loss.

"We were trying to get the free man out to the middle but they were doing very well in the middle and that was frustrating that we didn't get some of those breaks around the middle."

Kildare boss Brendan Hackett admitted his side played second fiddle to 14-man Tipp.

"I know that Cork will continue to challenge for major honours in the years ahead. I wish everyone the very best next year and in the years to come."

Cork are on the lookout for a new senior hurling manager after Jimmy Barry-Murphy stood down on Saturday evening.
