O'Grady in race against time

April 01, 2015

Limerick's captain Donal O'Grady leads out his team.

Captain Donal O'Grady has emerged as a major doubt for Limerick's Munster SHC opener against rivals Clare on May 24.

The Irish Daily Star reports that O'Grady damaged ankle ligaments in Saturday's 0-16 to 1-25 defeat to Dublin on Saturday.

Limerick PRO Eamonn Phelan said: "They're saying at the moment that he could be missing the championship (opener) so they're working on that at the moment.

"Don't you know they (the doctors) will say that at the start. He's a risk now for the first round of the championship."

All Star Seamus Hickey, meanwhile, is expected back in a couple of weeks.

"Seamus Hickey is just a hamstring, he'll be okay."
