Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald has revealed that they will sit down with Colm Galvin next week and discuss his proposed plans to travel to the States for the summer.

It has been widely reported that the talented midfielder is to spend the summer in New York, which would rule him out of the Munster and All-Ireland championships.

Galvin's loss would be a huge blow to a Clare side that has courted a lot of off-field controversy already this year.

However, Fitzgerald told the Clare Champion that the management team will speak to Galvin following Sunday's NHL Division 1A relegation play-off against Kilkenny.

"We have talked to him and will be talking to him again next week. Colm had said this to me ages ago. The relationship I have with him is absolutely fantastic. We have talked about it all the time and we said we would talk about it after the league," said Fitzgerald.

"Obviously, there are so many different rumours going around, X,Y and Z. We'd love him to stay. He is a super lad and the relationship is brilliant with him. We will see after the league and if he does go, the Clare camp wouldn't say a word and we'd welcome him back when he gets back.

"If he does go, he will be a massive loss. He is 22 years of age and I am not going to be down on any of my players, no matter what ye say. I have great time for them all and I won't say a bad word against them."
