Counties to lose home venue if they breach ban

Any counties who turn a blind eye to the 'winter training ban' in the future will be punished with the loss of a home league fixture.

Last weekend Congress passed a motion which outlined the price that counties will have to pay if their inter-county teams are found to have returned to collective training earlier than permitted.

The penalty will hit County Boards in the pocket while managers will be anxious to avoid forfeiting home advantage in a game where two precious league points are at stake.

The GAA's head of games administration and player welfare Fergal McGill told The Irish Independent: "Losing home venue and the revenue that goes with it is a significant penalty."
