New London hurling manager Fergus McMahon has said he expects big things from his team in 2015.

McMahon, who captained the Exiles to the Nicky Rackard Cup in 2005, succeeded Tommy Harrell earlier this month and believes he has the right players at his disposal to capture more silverware next season.

"We only just survived in Division Two last year and I'd like to win promotion," McMahon told the Irish Post.

"Then the Christy Ring Cup - maybe we can get to the final of that or win it. The players are there. If they apply themselves, they're definitely capable of achieving that."

The Meath native revealed that squad have already began their preparations for next season, which begins with a trip to Westmeath on February 15 in the National League.

"We've started (training) already," he said. "Last year, they were late getting started and it caught up with them at the end of the season.

"Kilburn are flying at the minute so hopefully when they join us we should be on a level playing field."
