Turloughmore lodge second appeal

Beagh are through to the semi final.

The Galway SHC is facing further delay after Turloughmore lodged an appeal with the Connacht Council for a second time.

The DRA ordered a re-investigation into the constitution of the Turloughmore team after they were thrown out of the Galway SHC by the county CCC for fielding a player who, it was claimed, had not received clearance to play in a group match against Beagh after returning from the US where he had played hurling for the summer.

A different Galway CCC panel heard the case again last Saturday, but the outcome was the same and Turloughmore have confirmed that they are prepared to go as far as the DRA again.

"We're not out of (the Galway SHC), we're very much still in it," club chairman Adrian Mooney told the Irish Independent.

Reigning county and All-Ireland champions Portumna have qualified for the final but the other half of the draw is stalled at the quarter-final, pending an outcome to Turloughmore's second hearing. Ardrahan are through to the quarter-final (they will play Turloughmore or Beagh) with the winners taking on Gort in the semi-final.
