Turloughmore maintain senior status

Turloughmore 0-12 Padraig Pearses 0-10 Turloughmore edged towards safety last Saturday at Athenry, while also condemning Padraig Pearses to the intermediate ranks for 2009. In a tight affair, both sides traded blow for blow during the opening half-four to go in level at the break on 0-5 apiece. In the opening stages of the second-half though, the winners struck four unanswered in the first six minutes, which ultimately helped them hang on for victory/safety. Coming towards the closing stages of the game Turloughmore had established a 0-12 to 0-9 lead thanks to the scores of Francis Forde and Cathal Moore, and it would take a goal from Pearses if they were to have any chance of staying a senior club for next season. However, despite the best efforts of Emmet Ward, who top-scored with 0-7, they couldn't find the net as their opponents crowded out the defence to hold out for a crucial win.
