Monaghan and Cavan to take it seriously and survive OK. Roscommon might focus on the Championship and depth, rather than give all their secrets out as they did last year! Tyrone take the league seriously, but might struggle for firepower. Kerry just always seem to be in the top 4, despite indifference to the league. It's between Dublin and Tyrone to win and Donegal Cavan and Roscommon for relegation imo. Dublin the only team taking the League seriously, the rest hope to avoid relegation, can't see Kerry going down and Mayo have been a division 1 team I think its since mid 90s so that in itself will be something they want to avoid, Roscommon got caught last year pushing the league and then flopped in champ, Tyrone will play every game but doubt if they want to win league, Monaghan, Cavan will want to get game time and gamelan right for the push for Ulster title, Donegal are in danger with players retiring riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 17/01/2017 14:15:21 1946313 Link

Donegal Although we wont be taking league as serious as we did last year I still expect us to beat Cavan and Donegal at the very least. Cavan we have always had their number last few years and we bet the **** out of Donegal last year and with having them at home this time around added into the amount of their retirements and I can see struggling. As ever retaining Division 1 status and unearthing a few more options for our Championship 15 is the main goal for Kerry. Anything more is a bonus. We always have a tendency to start the League slowly, but it looks like we will have a bit of momentum going into it this year given our run to the McGrath Cup final on Sunday. I'd certainly welcome a League title if we found ourselves in contention with a couple of games to go. As regards relegation, I'd probably agree with most of the other posters. I think Roscommon could have a case of second year syndrome and drop back to Division 2. I also think Donegal could struggle given they've had to deal with so many players leaving within a few days of each other. 1. Tyrone - Always hard to beat in league and think are team to beat this year in general 2. Dublin - expect many to be rested and more than likely they wont be going flat out 3. Kerry - Always there or therabouts 4. Donegal - All this talk of retirments and going downhill is nonsense they still have plenty expeience and wont have gone away mark my words 5. Mayo - Wont be too bothered about league other than surviving 6. Cavan - Barely might avoid relagtion 7. Roscommon - Extremely poor side as proved in last years championship. Our last two managements broke up over excellent leagues but poor championships. McStay knows he's as good as gone unless we get to All Ireland 1/4s, That's the aim. I don't particulary agree with it but for that reason we wont be taking league as seriously as last and have not training like we did last year. I think we have 4 games at home this year so I'd be hoping we can do enough to avoid relegation. We have some quality coming through and it'll be interesting to see how they step up to senior football. There are places up for grabs on the Donegal team so ideally what I'd like to see from the league is a good few of the younger lads putting their best feet forward in terms of securing a championship place for themselves. Picking a winner I think you'd have to go with Dublin. Their third team is probably going to win the O'Byrne Cup! They have such strength in depth and competition for places that they'll always be the team to beat in the league. I can only see Kerry and maybe Tyrone troubling them.
