Now Slaughtneil must get a trophy for themselves from the GAA of what they have done . They were the first ever team in Ireland to win 3 codes in one year . Football,Hurling and Camogie (they don't have a ladies football team!) They continued there winning ways and now done the treble treble which people would say would be impossible . They won the Ulster Football in 2014 . But this year the Hurlers and Camogs one both Ulster . And the Footballers are in the Ulster semi final tomorrow , if the Footballers win Ulster it will be a treble Ulster , which they are favourites to win . Then have a bid to do a treble all Ireland . Remember all they have in sleachtneil is the club and school nothing else . Good luck sleachtneil . UTR oakleafersir (Derry) - Posts: 808 - 12/11/2016 11:36:59 1933745 Link 1 |
The double/treble is still alive after today. Also a word about Rosenalis from Laois into the Leinster JHC & JFC finals, great achievement. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 13/11/2016 16:33:26 1933949 Link 0 |
Slaughtneil are an incredible club, they can be rightly proud of their achievements. Mickmick (Dublin) - Posts: 104 - 14/11/2016 09:20:16 1934060 Link 0 |
Yeah went to college with a lad from there (Kearney) and he was an absolute gentleman and his friends and brothers very down to earth people. As you say it's a rural club who love the GAA. Watched match yesterday and they controlled the game - didn't realise so many of their team were county players which will make them hard to beat. Good luck to them.

I was surprised by how much better they were than Killyclogher yesterday. Pretty much had the beating of them all over the park. They are very patient and every player is extremely comfortable on the ball. They will be hard to beat in the final. benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1422 - 14/11/2016 10:49:08 1934085 Link 0 |
reaping the rewards of all that money made from the disco back in the '90s haha. Seriously though, fair play it is some achievement indeed being so successful on many fronts. Arguably the hurling team is the greatest achievement, running the Antrim champions Cushendall so close in last years Ulster final to then beating 2012 All Ireland champions Loughgiel this year. stranmillis29 (Antrim) - Posts: 787 - 14/11/2016 12:19:01 1934110 Link 1 |
Great stuff from Slaughtneil. Some achievement to win the Ulster hurling and i wouldn't back against them winning the Ulster football. In fact,i'm going to get off the fence and tip them to win the All Ireland football final on St Patrick's day and erase the comprehensive beating they got off Corofin a couple years back. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 14/11/2016 12:38:25 1934118 Link 0 |
can some one tell me how many dual players are involved in sluaghtneil? (Dual players that actually play on the field) overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 14/11/2016 13:40:15 1934141 Link 0 |
Remarkable achievement. Might have to postpone the football if they are in both the hurling and football finals. Altho the GAA would probably make them play both on the one day. Couldn't let it interfere with their 'great' fixture schedule....

"There are almost a dozen players on both hurling and football panels, with most of them starters in every game." link keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/11/2016 17:09:02 1934202 Link 1 |
Amazing achievement by the club, and by no means is it a fluke! Years and years of hard work, commitment and effort by members, players and the community have built this great club from underage right up. Great structures in place in all three codes from senior right down to the u8s. The facilities and structures in place are a sight to behold and testament to the great work of the men and women of the club, and most of all no bickering and fighting between the football, hurling and camogie. A shining example of the ideals of the GAA at club level. DoireCK (Derry) - Posts: 162 - 15/11/2016 19:46:59 1934498 Link 1 |

What happens if their footballers and hurlers win their next games??? gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 27/11/2016 16:46:32 1936951 Link 0 |
Fantastic achievement. It just goes to show that with dual players when there is a will there is a way. They are obviously well coached/managed when you can see so many starters in both codes with little injuries. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 27/11/2016 16:53:13 1936955 Link 0 |
Surely there's no way the footballers and hurlers could be made play on St Patrick's Day one after the other?

Nice to see the optimism but a couple of extremely tough games to negotiate first before that would become a reality!! Nevertheless onwards and upwards DoireCK (Derry) - Posts: 162 - 27/11/2016 18:47:20 1936980 Link 0 |
Unchartered territory now. No one has ever done this before.
