All-Irelands won by a late dubious free?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Tipperary nearly won the '14 hurling final after being awarded a late dubious free. They missed and Kilkenny won the replay.

Are there examples of All-Irelands being won by award of a late dubious free?

ehhhh....can't think of one at the moment ..at least not in football...no, I don't believe that ever happened in a football final..the last odd thing I remember happening in the final minute of an All-Ireland is BJK kicking the ball off Durcan's tee....

Any examples of a team falling asleep for the majority of the last 10 minutes of the match and losing the final from a very controlling position?

Don't start, we all know what you're hinting at and you're only dying to rake it up again. We lost, move on (even though it still annoys me but that's life)

Awful effort!! I wonder where you might be going with this...... Look up weeshies commentary on YouTube. You wont like it. Still sour after all these years. Up the 4 Regions!!

Jesus seansy you are dragging up the old ghost that hangs over Mayo football! It's got nothing to do with a curse!

I can't remember an instance of this. I do recall teams losing their bottle with a quarter of a match remaining though and being outclassed during that period while having a healthy lead overturned. Dubious frees though. No can't remember any I'm afraid.

Kerry lads still can't see it.

Just listen to their captain during the week

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Not a winning free but Meath's last kick of the game free by Brian Stafford in 1990 to level the match against Cork.
Meath won the replay so sort of a winning free

Surprised no one has mentioned a certain Tommy Sugrue, I hear he's popular down in Cork.

Anyone who can't remember go and have a look on youtube at the free he gave Meath in 1988 in the last minute which enabled them to secure a draw.

Tipp were 3 points down with 10 minutes to go. What is your point?
