Wexford to shock Waterford

(Oldest Posts First)

Considering Wexford have never shown any fear or anxiety about playing Waterford, it's crazy that Wexford are seen in the eyes of bookmakers at least, to not have a prayer of winning this weekend. They have beaten them as outsiders in the qualifiers before. Waterford are coming into this game after a big hiding. Wexford are off the back of a wins. All to play for I reckon.

I honestly can't see us beating Waterford. They are rightly red hot favourites for this game, everything is stacked against us especially the injury list. To be missing so many of your starting players has left our options very very tight. I'd love to be wrong and regardless I will be there on Sunday willing them on.

Perfect10 Wexford are between 4/1 and 5/1 in different places. I didn't know about your injury list. Who exactly is out?

James Breen, Liam Ryan, Andrew Shore, Shaun Murphy, David Redmond, Shane Tompkins and Podge Doran. Aidan Nolan's match fitness is in doubt given how long he's been out. All of those would be probably be in the first fifteen on Sunday if fit. I know they aren't injured but also Jack Guiney and Ian Byrne would be probably start in our half forward line if they hadn't opted out this year.

Finally people keep talking about the hammering Tipp gave Waterford. I actually think that goes against us, Waterford will want to lay down a marker and will really tear into Wexford. I think it only comes into play in the closing stages of the game if we're ahead.

Good reply fulgrim, wexford have noteable injuries alright...it will be no walkover though...waterford should be chomping at the bit raring to go after that tipp game. Still think this only be on 3,4,5 point game. That lee chin is phenomenal stuff.

If you saw Wexford playing Dublin as I did, you wouldn't back them to beat Wicklow. Had a stronger team out against Cork and gave a vastly improved performance but Cork are a pale shadow of their great teams of the past. Waterford are not as bad as they looked against Tipp but if they have regained their confidence I expect they will win by about 8 points.

Wouldn't fancy us either cause of injuries,I know cork are going through a crisis but beating them short so many was fantastic for us and to beat a Munster team in thurles was massive aswel, traditionally a bit of graveyard for Wexford, there usually isn't much between wexford and waterford no matter whose considered favourites and hopefully we'll put it up to the deise on Sunday

I'd fear for Wexford a little bit, if I'm honest. There could be a serious backlash in Waterford after the beating from Tipp.

It's great that Wexford got this far you get sick of the same teams playing in the last stages of the championship every year.
Of all the counties left Tipp aside I'd like to see one of these lift Liam in September.
Hurling badly needs a lift.
Reckon Waterford are that bit further but remember 2003 was it in Nowlan Park a pretty mediocre Wexford team beat a class Waterford team who had lost a Munster Final. Could be wrong there but Larry Murphy was still playing and I'd say caught every high ball that day.
Waterford to win this one though and even the record at 2 all.
Wexford must continue with this form into 2017. There's better hurlers not playing but Liam Dunne can only work with the committed group he has.

Shame Jack Guiney isn't playing. Talented player.

As far as I am aware, the reason why he is not playing lies with himself.

The problem is if Wexford win I can't see them getting near Killkenny or tipperary but I'd give Waterford a chance.

No disrespect to Wexford but I don't think they have a prayer.
Waterford are a far better side than cork.

Hang in there Nick. Wexford have had some strong under 21 teams and this young lad O'Connor with the minors looks like the real deal.
