No Ryan McHugh - tut tut.

No many wing backs racking up the massive scores he does.

He has become as important to Donegal now as Murphy.

I believe he is. When we were at our best we had the likes of Lacey and Mc Glynn as link men from defence to attack. Lacey doesn't have the legs anymore and Mc Glynn although excellent is in and out with injury. MC Hugh has blistering pace, great timing of runs and can take the scores when they are available.
It is interesting to note that in our last two games, Monaghan and Dublin man marked him for the entire match to lessen his influence. I never seen a half back man marked before!! His influence hasn't gone un-noticed.
I don't know what is happening with Michael Murphy. He has been well below par of late for the county, his club has 5 games played in the league and he hasn't togged out once!! I hope he is just taking a break and we will see the real Michael Murphy come championship.

I remember him scoring 2 goals the first day out against Down, what did he end up scoring in the other 7 league games?
Keith Higgins and Ronan McNamee would both be worthy of inclusion, and though Connolly is one of the games biggest talents I think his form has been average for quite a while now so AOS to centre forward and Colm O'Neil into the full forward line.

Attacking wing backs have become so important these days. The likes of McHugh, McGlynn and Lacey being standouts for Donegal. Lacey and McGlynn were so important for Donegal in 2012 I thought. Age might be catching up with Lacey though alright.

I'm a huge Michael Murphy fan ever since seeing him in Croker for the first time. I think it was in 2009 against Cork maybe. Donegal took a bit of a tanking that day but it was clear that this kid up front was something special. He's played a lot of football to be fair to him but he has too much ability for this period of form to be nothing more than a blip. On his day he is the best footballer in the country by a mile in my opinion.

Possibly a better name for this thread would have been "Players to look out for in 2016". With all the attention here clearly steered towards the top table i think a mention should be given to players outside the top 4. Gearoid McKiernan (Cavan) is having a super year already. Killian Clarke's (Cavan) athleticism is something to behold. Cork's U 21 team has a few nice forwards there. Shane Walsh (Galway) is a player who could potentially shine this year. Roscommon's Cathal Cregg is also a class act.

Mes - yeah Murphy is an exceptional talent - he was awesome that day V Cork when we got hammered .

I actually hate seeing him out the field but then again I suppose when he was wracking up huge scores we were losing so I don't know .

He's a midfielder now as much as anything . Murphy actually was a midfielder at underage .

The only problem with Murphy is that not only is he the best full forward in the game but he's probably one of the best midfielders in the country too!
