Who has been the better Brogan over all?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Alan or Bernard?

My heart says Alan, but the head says Bernard,

I have so much respect for Alan, for what he has done and how long he has been doing it. But, I have to say, Bernard is the best Dublin forward I have ever seen. A fella who would walk on any team of any era.

We are blessed to have them both. Incredible footballers.

For pure scoring ability = B.Brogan. Poacher in chief and can find the posts with a split second chance.

For pure naturalo ability = A.Brogan. So good to watch on the ball, poetry in motion when he's soloing down the field. Can pick a pass others dont see. A great footballing brian.

I honestly dont know who id go for. But I dont think A.Brogan gets the plaudits he deserves.

Alan has been better over the duration of his whole career whereas Bernard has probably hit the higher peaks.

Bernard 2009-2011 was essentially unplayable. He won FOTY in a team that didn't even win Leinster. He has shown flashes of that form since and played very well on occasion too and has still been one of the best attackers in the country since 2012.

I would prefer Bernard. He is the most lethal finisher ive seen play with Dublin.Mind you,not a bad era for him to be playing in the full forward line.Dominating hapless opponents in Leinster guarantees Bernard lots of opportunities in all games.A dream time to be a Dublin forward. The service he gets is top notch. As an all round footballer id prefer the likes of P Flynn,D Connolly and C Kilkenny.

As a neutral, Bernard as he gets crucial scores at crucial times.

I wonder do these lads mark McMahon in training?

I always thought Alan was a bit over-rated. Good player but hot and cold and accuracy in front of goal was badly lacking at times. Bernard for me.

I think Bernard could do Alans job better than Alan could do Bernards.

Bernard for me.

Alan is a more natural footballer imo. Bernard probably more clinical finisher.

Paul? I have some recollection of him winning a League at full back before R'OC came along.

Alan v Bernard is a very hard call. Alan was consistently brilliant in a flaky enough Dublin team pre-Gilroy. Bernard is an ice cold poacher though. Even when he's not quite on top form he can cause carnage... Just ask Mayo.

Dublin lads can we confine these threads of Dublin interest to the Dublin forum please. That is the correct forum for them. The topics are of passing interest only to the rest of us.

Bernard for me.. 2 quite different players... someone said Bernard could no alans job better than Bernard could do alans? Far from true, Bernard is full forward line or nothing. . Pillar played Bernard in half forwards at the start and he was wasted.. berno can't do the link play

2 excellent footballers but Bernard has come up with the more crucial scores over the years..
