Waterford were impressive last week putting Cork to the sword. With 7 or 8 seniors involved they will take beating. How are Clare, Tipp, Limerick and Galway fixed this year? Kilkenny take on Carlow and Wexford meet Offaly in the Leinster semis tonight. Two easy wins expected for the Cats and the Model men but I fancy the Faithful to cause an upset! A lot of pressure on the Wexford lads after a very good minor team messing up and the seniors forgetting to attend nowlan park. I fancy a Wexford win a third leinster final and anorher all-ireland final. Possibly a win with jj doyle taking dunnes job next year. Hard luck to Carlow. Would have been great for hurling in the county had they defeated Kilkenny. Only lost by two points. crikey (Australia) - Posts: 355 - 25/06/2015 11:07:29 1742441 Link 0 |
Sick of seeing lads throw hurls at other players, again last night in Offaly Wexford game! SeppBlatter (Dublin) - Posts: 187 - 25/06/2015 11:30:10 1742456 Link 0 |
I heard Theowing a hurl is a yellow card offence, and the offender gets a warning. Can someone confirm if this is the case. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1741 - 25/06/2015 11:38:18 1742462 Link 0 |
Of course throwing the hurley is a yellow card offence. How the ref missed that last night I just dont know. But Wexford were deserving winners. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1903 - 25/06/2015 11:47:02 1742468 Link 0 |
What a brilliant team goal that 2nd Wexford goal was.Fantastic skill and stickwork. One of the best goals all year.Nice looking Wexford team. The centre forward put in a big shift.Lovely left handed playmaker.Theyve a great chance of beating Kilkenny again. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 25/06/2015 11:55:08 1742473 Link 0 |
Wexford's full forward McDonnell his flick to his team mate for the second goal was different class. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 25/06/2015 12:11:04 1742482 Link 0 |
Offaly were reasonably impressive in the first half, especially in defence. Wexford showed what they can do in the 2nd half, though. Brilliant TEAM goal - the block & clearance from the Offaly goal chance, lovely flick in the middle of the field & class touch from McDonald to set up the finish. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 25/06/2015 12:33:46 1742495 Link 0 |
All Ireland winners will come from Munster. I wasnt impressed by Wexford last night. They got the win but they were very laboured about it I thought. Hope they win Leinster. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1903 - 25/06/2015 12:39:04 1742502 Link 0 |
I was the Carlow/Kilkenny game last time.. Carlow should have won. What cost them was a very slow start (nerves) and some questionable refereeing choices late on.. imagine what an earthquake a Carlow win would have triggered in Hurling? They should hand out two hurleys and two sliotars to every kid in national school in a small county like Carlow. Pump prime hurling crikey (Australia) - Posts: 355 - 25/06/2015 14:43:52 1742586 Link 0 |
It's not a case of throwing money at a wall hoping something will stick in counties like Carlow for hurling. The right people have to be involved and reasonable & progressive targets set & reached. It costs more to run a hurling club than it does a football club (hurleys, helmets & sliothars) so schools & clubs need to be focused on & linked together. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 25/06/2015 15:02:31 1742604 Link 0 |

Incredible performance by Carlow last night when you consider that three years ago their minors lost to Dublin by 4-24 to 0-3! Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 996 - 25/06/2015 16:41:20 1742680 Link 0 |
Doyler, I live outside the county so tbh I dont know. But I'd say most fans living inside the county wouldnt know either. As fans we really never know until a team is announced for the first championship game. We have a couple of excellent hurlers to watch out for alright, and Tony Keady is involved at management level so I think we will be well prepared, but we didnt win minor 3 years ago so we will have our work cut out. From what I've seen in Leinster so far, I think we could have done well if we were in it but to me it seems the higher quality is in Munster this year. I hope I'm wrong about this! i know everyone is saying well done to carlow for getting so close, and i as much as anyone would have loved to have seen them win it. but i think this might be the weakest kilkenny under 21 team we have seen in recent years - just looking at it solely from the point of view of individuals there is not a single recognizable name in the team. and also i dont know of any star names coming through in comparison to in the past everyone knew some players before they were even minor certainly for myself i had heard of a number of the current star names such as hichie hogan, richie power padraig waslh, cillian buckley, walter walsh and colin fennelly and they were certainly all star players when they were playing under 21. its unusual that there is no one coming through of that quality at the moment - or so it seems anyway. hurlingexpert (Clare) - Posts: 1941 - 25/06/2015 18:54:25 1742758 Link 0 |
Slightly off topic but watching the game in Tullamore last night made me wonder is it time to review the type of sliothar being used currently ? On a dry hard pitch the ball bounced off the surface like a tennis ball. We've also seen in recent games that with wind assistance the keeper and full-back line can now worry the opposition goal with clearances. I'm not sure this makes for a better spectacle. Ive proposed the changing of the sliotar a few times maroon.I think its far too light and a player can strike the ball 100 yards now.And further.Lads flicking the ball over with ease from 40-50 yards.I would definately make it slightly heavier.Would lead to more game time with ball in play.Would be a better spectacle. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 25/06/2015 19:39:23 1742771 Link 0 |
