Attendances 2015


I haven't seen an attendances thread for 2015 so I'll start one here. Here is a few to kick it off.

From memory, some big attendances in the Mckenna Cup with Tyrone and Armagh drawing over 8,000 and 7,500 to their 2 meetings. Dublin and Kildare drew something similar to their O'Byrne Cup final.

Maybe you are closer to the mark hill16no1man, ye have a well drilled travelling support though while we have more of a hands in the pockets, we'll see how it is going before we start shouting sort of a crew! They wouldn't be as noticeable!

i find it a bit weird that the o'byrne cup semi between Dublin and Meath, the final between Kildare and Dublin and the McKenna Cup semi all had much bigger attendances than many league games. I'm sure things will pick up as the weeks go by.

Over 8,000 in Killarney was a great turn out, considering it was the first league game and roads were bad. We must have had 2,00-3,000 fans down there which made for a great sat night in Killarney.

not weird i predicted that the week of them games
cork v dublin had about 3 thousand dubs and rest cork
cork never have more than a couple thousand at home games in league or championship
outside of munster final against kerry
dublin v meath are neighbours and have a rivalry
the same as dublin v kildare
you would expect more

On another note, am I the only one that thinks its ridiculous that the GAA play so many games in Croker. The league final and Semi Finals for example will be played in Croker, like why not have a double header in Thurles etc. Leinster semi finals this year will be played in Croker and without Dublin involved, it has to be said, the place is dead. Thousands of empty seats and that echoey atmosphere. Why don't the GAA start playing games in smaller provincial grounds. There was an uproar when the GAA fixed Mayo and Kerry for Limerick last year but let's be honest, it created a sense of freshness with a packed atmosphere. Anybody else think that the GAA need to stop playing games that only attract about 30k people in Croker?

id agree with all ireland quarter finals being played in suitable venues be it croker or a venue close to both counties
like last year we had the gaelic grounds used for the semi final replay
but there was a geat option on the quarter finals
to have a double header in the gaelic grounds
kerry v galway and mayo v cork
but the gaa stated all all ireland series games are to be staged in croker
which made a mockery of their then staging the semi final replay at that venue.

Always felt if o'moore park in portlaoise could be developed into 35,000 plus stadium it could really solve this problem,easy access from cork/kerry/limerick and Dublin/meath/Ulster,maybe its location in the town doesn't give much scope for redevelopment

its location is the problem as the town becomes anightmare with only 11 thousand at games that i witnessed last few years.
pity as it has train bus and motorway access
