Most Club Medals

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

We know Shefflin holds the record number of Celtic Crosses won but which club player( or players) has the most county medals? There's a lot of familiar looking club names winning titles again this year. Some of those lads must have a bucket full of medals.
My guess would be someone like Glynn in Wicklow or some of the Crossmaglen lads.

A good question, it's needle in a haystack time, could be anywhere from Crossmaglen, to Vincents from the 50s/60/s, Glen Rovers, Blackrock, the list goes on, I have no idea to be honest!

I would imagine Paul Hearty has the most in football but Kevin Heffernan probably has the most overall with 15 football and 6 hurling medals for St Vincents.

Would you say he is the most decorated player of all time in Gaelic games? To win six all Ireland club medals with a club is simply phenomenal. People might say disparaging comments about the Armagh championship to lessen it somewhat. To me it is incredible what he has achieved.

he's definitely up there alright bennybunny, people can say what they want about the Armagh championship but there were some fine teams in Armagh over the years that would have won provincial and maybe national honours only for Cross.

Joe Henry from Mayo Four Roads won 23/24 Mayo SHC Medals.... i think a lad from Mulahoran in Cavan called Sheridan won a similar number of County Medals

Mind you it is dated 1991. Joe Henry's definitely a contender.

Padraig Kelly going nicely on this one having rounded off a 5 in a row with St Brigids yesterday in football and a 7 in a row in hurling the previous Sunday with Four Roads and is still only 24/25. Also a star performer in both teams and not making up the numbers.

Would have to bow to the great Joe Henry though, some record although things have got much more competitive for his club Tooreen these days.

What player has the most medals over the different grades e.g Club,County, College, Minor, Under 21 etc

I imagine Shefflin would be still fairly high. Has any player won everything there is to win?

Jesus just had a look at his medals there. Only one missing is a Railway Cup victory (runner up in 2007). He even has an international rules medal. Only one All Star :P

Joe Canning is only missing The Senior All Ireland with Galway. Surely he will win one. 4 All Ireland Club medals is phenomenal.

Jimmy Barry Murphy

won senior All Ireland county titles in hurling and football -
national leagues won at both codes.
5 Railway cup medals (only one in hurling)
All-Ireland club titles in both codes.
All-Ireland minor medals in both codes.
He has won one All-Ireland under 21 hurling.

At county level only, the under 21 football All-Ireland alluded him. At club level only the under 21 hurling county championship did not come his way.

Bennybunny I think I'm right in saying JBM has won All Ireland's as a manager at both snr and minor level in hurling too. I imagine he has his own shares in brasso at this stage.
