Eoghan O'Gara 2012 V 2014

What a transformation. Looks a serious serious footballer now. A nailed on championship starter at 14 for us now.
Playing incredible football this Spring. Some weapon when on form, well done big man.

His improvement seemed to start when he was playing Sigerson Cup football for DCU a few years ago, I saw him in the final and he actually looked a good footballer unlike the very raw player that we saw in 2010 and 2011

hmmm.....a lot done, more to do

Still most effective coming off the bench for me, and that said only certain games suit his 'style of play'. Fantastic kind of player to have on a panel and getting regular game time but just not from the throw in for me.

Hot n Cold. Impact sub only. He would have to join a queue for the inside forward line that includes Brogan, Mannion, Costello, Kev Mc, Andrews, Rock. If he can do what he did yesterday consistently then he is in with a strong shout. The players ahead of him are more talented but there are none who are stronger. He's a key weapon in the Dubs arsenal but using him really depends on the opposition. The softly softly approach wasn't working yesterday so we unleashed the battering ram. It's horses for courses.

Still inconsistent but huge improvement - his shooting, passing and running with ball in hand have come on a lot. He's even popped a few over off his weaker foot this season.

To think a few seasons ago he could barely solo or kick simple points. He looked like a very good athlete who was just thrown onto a football pitch, he's aquired the skills as well now though.

Perfect summing up Joxer ,

I agree there as well joxer.

Certain opposition don't suit EOG, some situations do. Right now I'd have Paddy Andrews at FF because I think he's a more solid all round player and more consistent, but on his day EOG is more devastating.

He's an all rounder, hard as nails.

Has to start with Mannion & B brogan either side of him. His power is an extra option. Plan B & C doesn't have to come off the bench.

Dublin have far too many talented forwards to consider O'Gara a certain starter. But yes, he is much improved from a couple of years ago. They really do have an embarrassment of riches up front right now.

I agree. He seems a different player this season. I never rated him, thought he was nothing but brute strength but his recent form has been impressive.

Mention too to Diarmuid Connolly - there was a fella you could rely on to lose the head and let the team down on the big day, but now he's the star of the show!

Good player, has got better. Not worth a thread yet.
