Price of GAA jerseys

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just wondering are GAA jerseys over priced for what is an amateur sport after all. You can buy any soccer jersey for 45Euro compared to 60 Euro for a GAA jersey. Ok the argument will be the turnover in changes of soccer jerseys compared to that of the GAA. However in the current economic climate maybe we should be competing with the soccer world and match them in price. We might see more kids wearing them instead of every soccer jersey under the sun.

they are a bit expensive, but the majority of people dont upgrade every year (unlike soccer fans). its more important to gaa fans to be at games supporting their teams than worrying about what jersey is on their backs

I agree with you on the support aspect of going to a match whether you have the colours or not. However i would much rather see kids running around with their county colours than those of a city team that has no meaning to them.

I our club our own jerseys cost €45 direct from o'neills. I'm guessing anywhere that sells jerseys for more than that is making a nice profit.

just because they are not from Manchester doesnt mean they cant get attached to a certain team, its like saying you cant like someone unless they're from your family? you cant think a comedians funny because youve never personally met them?

How can you get attached to a soccer team like, People just go for the people who win all the time, there is obviously not the same level of pride in an england soccer jersey than there is in a club or county jersey, Well unless you play for the soccer team, but sure thats highly unlikely.

The weird thing about wearing football jersey compared to GAA jersey is weird. If i wear the new Liverpool jersey or a Brazil jersey people will comment on how nice the jersey is etc etc.

My parents are from Tipp but i was born in Meath. Now i wear both jerseys with equal pride yet i have to explain to people everytime i wear a Tipp jersey.

Why do i?. because i am usually met with "why are you wearing aTipp jersey?, you are a Meath man?". I am not from Liverpool yet i am usually met with how you do think we will do this season?.

Elverys do a good deal it has to be said, if you are from a local club you get 10% off any item bought in the shop if they stock your club's gear. Still the game should be promtoed in every way possible and what a better way than to see county colours being worn more than soccer colours.

You give a kid 60 euro to buy themselves a jersey of their choice. They go into a shop a see a soccer jersey for 45euro and a GAA jersey for 60 euro, which will they buy?. Simple Maths, the soccer jersey with 15 euro to spare.

its rare i say this but thurlesblues has a point, there is something strange about supporting or being devout to something you have no attachment to. the whole 'my dad supported them so now do i' and supporting out of interest has something to do with it but i do find it strange seeing people screaming and getting wound up over man u and liverpool when they have never been to a game or arn't from the area. and yes GAA jersey are a bit expensive IMO.

thurlesblues is right. Wear your own county jersey with pride! Stop pretending that you're from Man/London/Liverpool etc
Tipp have a nice new one out too

At that price I'd say the O'Neills were not doing too badly out the deal either.

whether you support a team from liverpool manchester london or spain has nothing to do with pretending to being from there im a fan of liverpool and Proud of it im also a Dub fan and equally as Proud of that as has been discussed in another thread the ban on watching and playing other sports is gone and thank God for it, so stop with the de valera era rubbish people can follow whatever sport they feel like and be equally passionate about them

as for the GAA jerseys i dont think they are that expensive at 45e i havent bought a jersey in years i prefer the t-shirts meself
