Just had look at the fixtures,on round 6 ,few fixtures down for Saturday March 17th,has there been league games played on St Patricks day before? Especially with All Ireland club finals on? macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1097 - 14/10/2017 12:38:31 2055229 Link 0 |
Was it ever past by the GAA that the All Ireland club finals would be played before Christmas. I can't find anything that says it was. This would mean that St Patrick's Day is free for Inter County league matches. Brian_Coyote (Antrim) - Posts: 346 - 14/10/2017 15:56:09 2055249 Link 0 |
I think Easter Sunday is on April 1st in 2018, is the League final down for that day, a lot of people prefer to be at home on Easter Sunday similar to Christmas Day, it would be a bad day to play the League final, even Holy Saturday wouldn't work with religious celebrations and people travelling home for Easter Sunday riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 14/10/2017 21:54:55 2055292 Link 0 |
Why do London have all home games in Div 4 - surely that's not right??? Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 15/10/2017 09:02:30 2055313 Link 0 |
There pitch was being upgraded last year so they played every league game away from home, so this year its a turn around with all there games at home. its just for 2018 then back to normal year after.

And just after seeing the article on news page explaining it. Can't say I agree with the reasoning- if your pitch is not playable and you can't provide an alternative County ground then that's just unfortunate. But you shouldn't then get all home games the next season. Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 15/10/2017 10:12:18 2055321 Link 0 |
I don't think games should be held up or changed for people to go listen to fairy tales. Leave the final on a holiday weekend, best job.

Its more down to the money issue really, they have lost gate money and with all the expenses they would have paid for ( flights for 30ish, hotels, coaches etc ) this way they keep there spending down for this year. I know what your saying about using another pitch but i don't think its a big problem. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 703 - 15/10/2017 10:41:56 2055326 Link 0 |
I take it then that there will be Counites then in Div 4 this year with one less home game than normal - the teams who played London at home last year when should have been away. Maybe that's my Sunday evenings entertaient sorted.... Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 15/10/2017 11:00:34 2055328 Link 0 |

It's your right to be offended. m_the_d (None) - Posts: 1099 - 15/10/2017 20:19:37 2055416 Link 1 |
Offensive it what way? My opinion is that a bank holiday is the best time for games, someone elses opinion is that it is not, if you find my opinion offensive then there's something to be said for that.

Fairy-tale? Eh, that's a great way to live your life, with your assessment why not play the club finals on Christmas day? After all ye won't be at Mass or eating Christmas dinner with the family because it's just another say, how sad your life must be, to have no hope or nothing to comfort you in your hour of need or on your last few minutes on this earth, i'll light a candle for you. 1 thing that annoys me is people that don't have faith, don't care what religion but at least have some hope, what do ye tell younger family members when a grandparent dies? Oh they are put in the ground to go rotten and worms eat them, go out there and join the hippies, that's some way to bring up children. A sad way to live your lives, no faith, no hope, nothing but an empty soul, at least I and thousands of others in all religions can believe in something else whether it's better or worse, it's a comfort when things wrong in your life that your belief keeps you stronger. I suppose Mickey Harte and the Tyrone team saying the rosary/prayers before games is a fairy-tale, what about the hundreds of players for both club and county blessing themselves before a game, fairy-tale? I think you spent too much time reading and watching the anti Church media and their lob sided agenda on religions riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 15/10/2017 21:57:41 2055444 Link 3 |
I always say every one to their own but I'm with you on this riverboys, as the late great George Michael sang you've gotta have faith.

Tell children that their grandparents are in some sort of Disneyland in the sky, happy as can be. Nothing wrong with that. Tell them that Easter bunny brings Easter eggs, the tooth fairy pays them for their milk teeth and Santa climbs down the chimney and gives them presents made by his elves. We tell them nice good stories about the all the time. They then grow up and choose which of those stores they think it is true.

An unusual comment for the administrator's of a sports forum to allow be posted. I don't have the faith that many others have, I also don't have the right nor hold the intellectual high ground to ridicule those that have, and neither do you mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1044 - 16/10/2017 21:38:29 2055647 Link 1 |
