Seanie Johnston sitting on the Kildare bench

Indeed jimbo and that is the point Joe Brolly was making. It effectively negates the county status and means counties can now recruit anyone they want from the outside on the flimsiest of reasons.

Not fully, for the pair of them.

How can any half decent GAA supporter defend these sorts of actions? Now I've seen a few Kildare fans on here face up to the reality of the situation and fair play to them.

I understand about passion and love of ones county but sometimes regardless of loyalty… you have to throw up your hands and say... no excuses, we're in the wrong.

I'm not trying to score points... but seriously, talk about defending a turd sandwich.

The rules have been completely exploited and this could open the door to other situations like this.

True but at the same time there's been plenty of questionable transfers in the GAA before this debacle. More than likely there'll be plenty more, whether or not they'll be subject to the same level of scrutiny is another thing.

There seems to be some massive fear out there that this will open the floodgates and we'll have players transferring all over the country within no time.

The transfer criteria and rulings needs to be looked at. Meet the criteria and a transfer can be granted, fail to meet it and your move is blocked. The only fair way.

Unless your Seanie Johnston of course.

So according to some people it's o.k. for a manager with a grudge against a player to end that player's county career ? Am I right in that ? If so what is the player supposed to do to play at the top of his ability ?

Lilly magic, did McStay not say that Val Andrews might be Cavan manager for the next few years, even though he is no longer with them? Just got a quick glimpse of the article.

Is it interesting because he favors Seanie's move or that he thinks theres more to how it happened? Genuine question.

would be interesting if move goes ahead and for what ever reasons mc geeney goes during the year, new manager comes in and is a kildare man who doesnt agree with transfers, or will mc geeney bring seanie with him on his travels to next county team.

Do managers not have to conform to some sort of parish/county loyalty ethos ?

Maybe he can talk to Anthony Daly when he goes back to his own County and the next Dublin Hurling manager gets rid of your multiple hurling imports. Or maybe the new manager could talk to the Parnell's management on how they worked with all their bought players.

Saw this piece today if the cccc dont accept what the cac's decision will that be the first time ever that a lower body commitee wont accept a higher body's decision??
Apparantley if the cccc are not happy with the clarification of the cac then they can go to the DRA.
What then is the point or function of having the cac? if there decision is not accpeted?? I would see no point in having the central appeals commitee (cac) if they are going to be ignored and the cccc goes to the dra..
that is quite confusing but i was also wondering what will happen if the transfer does go the the DRA and they side with seanie johnston do they cccc rubberstamp the transfer as they are the only body with the authority to pass transfers or do they seek to clarify the DRA's decision..

Think mcstay is a little confused
What he should have said is after another unbelievable run from Graham "biggy" Reilly he slots over another sweet point. And seanie johnston is laying on the ground crying after been kept scoreless by kevin reilly and he will be contemplating his next county.

Dream on Mrs dunne, with injuries and defections you have no hope. I'm surprised you are not insulted by a fellow county man turning his back on his team. In Kildare we don't have that problem, in fact some others want to join us. Meath have no chance of beating anybody of consequence this year you know it I know all the Meath players know it and you can bet all the Kildare players know it.
It says it all when Meath were delighted at beating Wicklow. That's your level now, delight at beating Wicklow.
