Seanie Johnston sitting on the Kildare bench

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Was it just me or did Seanie Johnston sitting on the Kildare bench leave a sour taste in your mouth?? Like the guy isn't even a Kildare player yet. Seanie Johnston you work and live in Cavan your county needs you way more than Kildare do so go back to we're you belong cause Kildare are doing fine without you.

He certainly must be very confident of the transfer going through at this stage.
If it doesnt however, he's gonna be left looking very very silly indeed.

why is it a sour taste in your mouth? between cavan and kildare! he's been training with kildare for months and if the kildare players were ok for him to be there (they were) judging by the pictures then whats it to do with anyone..?

it makes little or no sense like if he works in Cavan surely he can spin round to breffinin park for a few training sessions every week instead driving all the way back and then training with Kildare......seems like he is hunting for a few trophies

Am actually surprised it took this thread so long to materialise, the photos were in the papers on mon and tuesday. The usual sharks arrived swiftly enough though.

You some Saint so ya are young Conleth.

Theres always a Vandetta against poor auld Kildare isnt there.

The vary fact that the pictures appear in a national paper would tell you that its something of national interest.
Yet when somebody speaks about it you get upset.

Although I love you comments about "the usual sharks" thats a great one, well done to you for that. Your brillinat stuff these days.

But answer me this, what post did you find out of order or in any way disingenious? What was it that upset you enough to prompt that post?

Personally I think he should be let play wherever if he can't get a game for his own county and it seems he's burnt those bridges in Cavan. However I think where it becomes everybody's business is if this type of transfer spills over to the rest of the GAA! For instance if the same happened in Dublin or Kerry etc would posters mind?

I think the bench is about as far as he's go at this stage tho. No matter how good a player would have been in the past, if they had been out of football for the same period, youd get it very hard to throw him into a starting 15. Add to that how patchy and poor his form was last year. Even the Gaels dropped him at one stage. So its really been about 21 or 22 months since he's played anywhere near the level that would be required to get into the Kildare or any other top team.
I know people will say he's training, but theres no sustitute for games.

Seing as you've mentioned Vinny Murphy in a hurling context, I have to point out -> Ryan O'Dwyer

If he is living and working in Cavan as another poster has said,on what grounds does he apply for a transfer? Is he trying to set a new precedent? Not a good thing for the GAA at all.

jackeen thats an honest post..but if we are honest there has been transfers going on for years that people didnt agree with the walsh (carlow/wicklow) transfer been just another example.
the SJ one gets more media attention for reasons like its kildare he's going to.. mc geeney.. high profile player for cavan etc maybe that why you feel it 'spills' over to rest of the gaa but i really dont think it should annoy dublin fans like clondalkin or even meath fans if he is training in breffni or hawkfield or if he's on the pitch in croke park.
i suppose SJ will feel it is only relevant if the kildare players minded him been with them on sunday on the pitch and they clearly did not from those pictures and from pictures in the dressing room after there's even one of him in a kildare paper today in the 'post match huddle'.
