Think promotion will be very tight between Tyrone, Galway, Kildare and Derry with a lot hinging on games this weekend. Losers of Louth and Westmeath dead certs to be relegated, while Monaghan on very poor run of form too. Meath prob just to do enough to stay clear of trouble.

Guys, if ye knew anything about Kildare football you would know they are not consistent performers in the league and never have been. I think its because they are focus on strength and conditioning this time of year and dont get up to speed till the championship. Was defo the case last year because when we played them in Dungannon they were shocking yet played good stuff in the summer

Tyrone have been very fortunate with the draw. We have 4 home games (Meath, Monaghan, Derry & Westmeath). 2 away games (Galway & Louth) and 1 neutral venue (Kildare).

With due respect to Louth, that is one of the better away games to get, so Tyrone have every opportunity to build a decent points total. Whether we are good enough to do so, is another matter.

It's a tough division. Generally in football being in the top two divisions is good for preparation for the Championship. All of last years provincial champions are in Division 1 which reflects well on the league. Recent division 2 champions have gone on to do well. I think that's an important point. Some dismiss the importance of the division 2 final when both teams are already promoted. Winners kick on to win the divisional finals.

I think Kildare will get in the top 2, they need to win the final should the get there and it should be a shot in there arm ahead of the Leinster championship. Monaghan are the second team I could see being promoted. It'll be tough for them but I think they can get the required results to do it.

Tyrone,Kildare look the two best in this group. Div 3 is the hardest one to predict.

Two from Derry/Kildare/Tyrone for promotion - the first couple of weeks will be important, the way the fixtures have been drawn. Galway have lots of talent and some great underage teams coming through but they might need another year or two. Monaghan still have plenty of good footballers but again, are rebuilding somewhat. Meath are physically enormous and can be devastating at times but seriously lack pace and will also be without Shane O'Rourke, I believe. Louth and Westmeath may struggle to survive at a higher level, as did Sligo and Antrim last year.
Derry/Tyrone to go up, then, as I don't think KIldare are at their best until later in the year. Louth and Westmeath to go down.
