Southern Dandy, Viva La Quinta Brigada is an amazing song. I am proud to say that one of most prominent men in the "No Pasaran" movement, Charlie Donnelly, lived not that far away from me. I grew up listening to Christy Moore, Plantxy etc. My father and older brothers would always have had their music on and I never fully appreciated it. But this past few years i've actually listened to the words of their songs and begun to appreciate their talents. Especially Christy Moore, VLQB basically challenged the Catholic Church on its stance towards the blueshirts at a time when the Church still held a massive grip on Ireland. Yeah H-D. Just after you-tubing some of his stuff there now. We are not great at eveything but some of us could hold a tune. Its the simple everyday things that cheer you up. I'm sick listening to talk about the recession. Two fingers up to the recession. There will always be Ireland. There will always be the GAA. And we will survive. Get up once more than you're knocked down. UP the Paddies. RAM85 (Westmeath) - Posts: 978 - 24/02/2009 16:40:07 217078 Link 0 |
