Hopefully you wont draw mayo in the qualifiers or you will have a long summer.

in all seriousness the losers of meath/kildare will play either mayo, clare or the losers of tyrone/donegal.

This has the makings of a classic. Both made serious statements of intent with Kildare very eye-catching
I fancy Meath to win maybe after a replay and give the Dubs a fair rattle. Kildare may well do some damage in the qualifier's .

problem is the draw for the team that loses will be difficult. no disrespect to clare but they look the weaker of the sides they may play/

Louth - Longford
Sligo - Antrim
Waterford - Derry
Wicklow - Laois

All joking aside I'd fancy Meath against at least 3 of those sides.

Clare are certainly no pushovers. Improving all the time and have some very handy forwards. Would be a tough away draw for most teams

Serious amount of trash talk here I like it. Two counties of proud footballing tradition (despite the fact that ye have 3 Leinsters and 0 All Irelands since 1935 compared to our 20 Leinsters and 7 All Irelands but we'll leave that there). It really is 50/50 and hard to call. Your midfield is definatelty better than ours but we have more scoring forwards. Could go either way

Yeah I love the trash talk, and lets be honest the amount of rubbish been spouted by Kildare is shocking, they should be thanking us for giving them a lesson in football on sat evening, :)

Well it couldn't have gotten any worse since the start of the league could it?

Yeah it has an we have Paddy O'Rourke's kickouts which we didn't have in the league which is an advantage despite his proneness to a meltdown. Our midfields strength is their running and ability to cover ground. On the Kildare kickouts though if they go long Jones and Menton give up 3 inches each to Feely and Moolick. We have to hope we can get punches and win breaks. But if they get on top they could just mark and mark and mark the thing and control the game

Plenty of white flags on display on Saturday anyway. Mostly from Meath points, not the terraces mind.

ya agree with that, lets hope paddy used his meltdown in the right game!

mento is a really good player imo, workrate great,up and down, not really a fielder but a modern type midfielder, jones similar but with less game time.

Midfield still crucial in the 'modren' game.
We were beaten there in the Galway games but destroyed most other teams in the league which provided a good platform for our forwards.
Feely and Moolick are a very good partnership and compliment each other quite well.

There are a couple of areas where i have some concern.
Our backs - the half back line were excellent the last day but i temper any of that with how bad Laois were. Still have tendancy to give up big scores.
Free taker - Neil Flynn injured. Feely took frees the last day but not near as reliable.

Still fancy us having enough to beat Meath on Saturday despite the above frailties, however would be a bigger concern if we were playing better teams.

Huge game. Whoever wins crosses over to the weaker side of the draw and would fancy their chances of being in the last 8. The loser could see themselves with a tough 3rd round qualifier fixture if they get through round 2.

Just bought the Leinster Leader and ah lads, we haven't hope if this is anything to go by. They're basically advertising the game as a family fun day, just come down and watch the Kildare team have a bit of a kickabout sort of thing. We have things like:

'Kildare of course gave Meath a big hiding in the opening game of the NFL'

(About the same game) 'winning 3-17 to 2-7'

(on their recent Leinster Semi trouble) 'The time is ripe for Kildare to finally put an end to that semi-final nightmare'.

'O'Connor Park is a stadium one feels will suit The Lilies'

Basically Meath are screwed. Well on the back of that I for one would like to congratulate Kildare on their semi-final success and wish them all the best in Leinster final. Hopefully you's can keep things tight and give the Dubs a right run for their money.
