Replying To M Lyster:  "Wicklow have been very hard done by, they should at least have been given home advantage. Antrim now might have to beat the two teams they've already beaten to win it. What a crazy competition, it should have been straight knockout and a Wicklow v Antrim final."
Just give half the teams 1 championship match ?

Hardly fair after a years training.

Its been the same format for a long time and teams get at
least 3 championship matches from this system.

The way I see it is, all four counties have got to the semi's on merit, full stop. Antrim won all their games including their game against the so called second favourites Carlow in NCP, so too did Wicklow win all their games including their last outing against favourites of the day the star studded Kildare team in St. Conleth's Newbridge on a score line of 3-18 to 2-19.
Down lost their first game to favourites Antrim on a score line of 3-15 to 0-12, but they regrouped came out and beat Roscommon 2-24 to 1-20, they came out a week later and beat a strongly fancied London team 2-19 to 0-19, keeping in mind that same London team had literally hammered Roscommon on a score line of 4-24 to 1-10. Dark horses is an understatement, me thinks?
So where does that leave the second favourite supposedly Carlow, well like I said Carlow lost their first game at home to Antrim 3-17 to 2-18, they beat a Mayo team that's now in a play off to avoid relegation 5-18 to 2-07, in their last game Carlow beat a weakened Kildare side 1-24 to 0-15.
Wicklow beat a full strength Kildare side and scored 3-18 (0-27) whereas Carlow scored 1-24 (0-27) against a very weakened Kildare side. There is no favourites in the Carlow v Wicklow game, the above score against Kildare is one reason, along with that it's a local derby so anything can happen and sometimes does, Wicklow came in under the radar, a radar that was so low that a cat would find it hard to get under it.

I wil probably make supersub15 redundant after this post.

Anything is possible but I still can't see Down winning it out. Any of the other 3 teams can win it.

It will be an Antrim v Carlow final. Both will easily win their semi finals, and will meet yet again. Always close games, but Carlow seem to have a mental block v Antrim.

Just a comment on the Kildare team. I doubt if any of their imports would be on the county panels of their home counties. If that's the case, are they really much better than local strong inter county hurlers? Now, if Kildare poached the top hurlers from Liam McCarthy counties, it would be a different story.

David Reidy (limerick) would be on almost any team in the country.

Carlow played Kildare without their imports and Kildare were competitive
for 60 minutes showing that they dont really need them.

And Kildares U21s are very strong so why not just promote the best of them
to the senior panel.

i was just going to say,i am delighted that kildare lost,i always prefer to see a team of players from the county rather than a team of blow ins getting a few quid for doing so.
i mean,kilkenny is what,40 minutes from kildare?

Carlow did not, last time I looked."
I see your objection to the draw has gone into Croke Park

A bit of a strange one that alright as Carlow got beat first day out with Antrim yet were kept in separate pots for the draw which I still don't understand the need for.

Another thing, Joe Quaid rabbiting on about the Kildare lads season being over in May, valid enough point but then goes on to say "These guys have no hurling in summer", yes they do Joe, they go back and play for their clubs like your imports did last weekend..

Get over yourself.

Wicklow may feel they got the toughest draw (Away to Carlow)
but Carlow and Antrim could argue they had the toughest draw
in the first round.

None of the draws were televised as far as i know.

They're pathetic. They are objecting to the draw on the grounds they weren't there to see it! In doing so of course they're implying, in a typically nasty way, that they have reason to suspect there was some jiggery pokery going on, which of course they have not a shred of evidence to stand up.

They just don't like the draw and they know they're on a hiding to nothing coming to Carlow on Saturday week where a heavy defeat awaits them. Good enough for them.

Mick Morrisey- born in Carlow,
Nick O'Donnell- born in Kilkenny,
Ned Wheeler- born in Laois.

And the 3 of them recognised as some of the finest hurlers to ever wear the purple and gold!

Would they prefer to have to play Antrim in Ballycastle or somewhere???

Are they not talking about Carlow/Wicklow? Or have I missed something?

I have no problem with us playing Carow - the problem I have is that we should have home advantage or even a nuetral venue.

The draw was also held in private.

Yeah but that 5 player rule was exposed big time when those players shagged off to play with their clubs.

The draw was held in a flat that hasn't been built yet, somewhere in Bray.
