Lisnaskea Emmett's, 1 gl. 6 pts;
Na Magha (Derry City), 0 gl. 8 pts,

Discipline! Discipline!

That has been the double mantra for the Lisnaskea senior, who last Saturday 11th of February, 2012, at the Teemore Gaelic Grounds, when they Emmet's narrowly defeated Derry City side Na Magha, with a score of 1 goal 6 points to 8 points. Gone has been indifference to sideline management instruction re physical discipline, gone also the total unesscery talking back to the matches' referee. In place was proper defence and attacking strategy, which resulted in the host 'Skea side dominating the playing park and more importantly the scoreboard. At half time they Emmett's lead by a telling scores of 4 points to 1 point to for firmly on the back foot Na Magha. One major critisimof the Lisnaskea hurlers by frittering away of twelve potential points by pucks that in some cases went glaringly yards wide. The Derry city's wide inaccuracies were far less due to the fast and clever tackling of the Emmett defence. For the previously under the cosh Na Magha side the concluding half saw major come back by them, which saw they Derry City lads saw a magnificent 7 points. However they Emmett side line and on field wrought inspirational changes, with several replacements on to the pitch. More importantly saw veteran Lisnaskea hurling star Jason McManus assuming free taken duties. Decisively for the Emmett's was their attacker's forcing '65 against Na Magha with moments to go. Up steps the very experienced 'Skea free taker 'twin' who effortlessly fired the slithor over backs and forwards to pass under the Derry cross for totally panic whacked the ball of the inside of the horizontal bar to land firmly behind the Na Magha defender for Emmett's and the matches only major score. Despite only a few minutes to full time and gallant major fight back by they visitors, which saw they added a further three points, but importantly one point they games victors Lisnaskea. They Emmett's remain at home, next Saturday 18th February, 2012, when they host Strabane Shamrock's.

The Game the First Half.

This An Tain Round "2" hurling match last Saturday 11th February , 2012, between temporary hosts Lisnaskea and their afternoon visitors Na Magha, got off for tit-for-tat hurling start, when firstly they Emmett's right half forward Shea Curran effortlessly pucked over his and his side's first score, a well taken point from play. It was quickly replied by Derry City's Alan Grant who also popped over from play. However that was they Na Magha side's last score of the games opening half. This scoring void was more adequately taken up by 'Skea'a scoring machine, who in the remainder of the first half added an additional three points from firstly on the games early first from Shea Curran, who clipped over from play. Moments later his replacement sub. Dylan Stewart popped his side's third point from play. Ironically, though they Emmett's now had almost full command of the playing, their attackers started to fritter away their previously well coordinated attacks by inexcusable wides. And they Derry City men didn't take up the scoring slack. However with moments to they games interval they Emmett's still inform point scorer pucked his third and his

Second half

Na Magha Become Active.

The formally dormant Na Magha shortly after this games resumption added their second point from Brendan Quigley from a free. The Derry City sides attempt reducing they telling difference with their hosts was quickly nullified, when Skea's Shea Curran once more and profitably popped over his fourth and sides fifth point from a mid-field free. With the end of this game's third quarter quickly ebbing away, they Emmett's left full forward Colin McManus pucked over from his side's fifth point from play. That last 'Skea score induced a naïve complacency, which entered they Emmett's physique, thus awaking their opponent's latent scoring abilities. As this quickly picking up a fast tempo, this game was coming to its scoring zenith. They games under dogs fight began in earnest, when this match was ending its third quarter, when previous scorer Brendan Quigley, who was now temporally taking over free taken duties popped over his second and his side's third point from play. Moments later and in the beginning of this matches fourth quarter Derry's Alan Grant successfully returned to the scoring plate, when clipped his side's fourth point from a free. Howard, Skea's, Shea Curran, who pucked his fourth and final effort and his sides sixth point from play. With these games scoring now registered as Lisnaskea with sixth points to four points for the Na Magha visitors, the outcome of this match was far from settled. They Derry city side further narrowed the difference, when Packie Doherty pucked over a morale boosting fifth point for now gung ho side.

Emmett's Go All Out For Victory

However a now revived Emmett's side witnessed their most important score of the match, when following unrelenting 'Skea pressure, forced their opponents into conceding a '65, though there is some dispute on who actually scored the goal by both sets of players. The facts are as follows, this major score which was coolly but deliberately taken by veteran club and former county player Jason McManus. He firstly lifted the slithor on to the bas of his hurley, he then fired the ball over backs and forwards to pass under Derry crossbar, for they then totally panicked Derry defender to whack the ball off the inside of the horizontal bar to land firmly at the bottom of the Na Magha nets for the Emmett's and the matches only major score. Now literally moments to the final whistle, and scoring sheet registering Lisnaskea with 1 goal 6 pts to 5 pts for the visible stung Derry side sought a scoring revenge, when Na Magha's scoring pair of Brendan Quigley and his team mate Alan Grant scored a mini blitz of a total of three points. Much too late and two points short of out right victory. The victory for this match was despite their lamentable wide in they victors in this game were deservedly to Lisnaskea for winning in a very positive manner. Men of the match was main point scorer Shane Curran and his team mate and mid-fielder Barry Smyth, they latter a man who can cover acres of ground in a nanosecond and then get stuck into the fray.
