Thank GAA It's Friday is back

June 24, 2016

Bernard Flynn and Dave Synnott

Thank GAA It's Friday returns to your screens for another summer packed with GAA goodness, with the first Episode on Friday, June 24th at 8:30pm on RTÉ 2, covering the best stories our native games have to offer.

The show's creators bring you the complete weekly GAA package; containing characters, games, fascinating stories and communities both at home and abroad.

It's a big weekend in the Leinster football championship with a semi-final double header in Croke Park. Dublin and Meath renew their age-old rivalry and we caught up with Meath captain, and
chemistry PhD student, Donal Keogan to hear how he balances leading his county with his leading research. Can the Royals can find the right formula to prevent the Dubs from reaching a
sixth consecutive Leinster final?

And in the interest of renewing old rivalries, former Meath and Dublin stars Bernard Flynn and David Synnott fight their corner to explain why a blossoming friendship ended with a fat lip and tall tales after their 1988 Leinster final bout!

In Ulster, a more modern conflict is renewed as the two counties who have shared the last five provincial titles, Monaghan and Donegal, meet in Clones. Hoping to form a united front at the back,
Ballybay brothers Ryan and Drew Wylie take our cameras behind the scenes of their recent club match. Can the Wylies steer the Farney Army to yet another Ulster final?

Anthony Molloy, captain of Donegal's historic 1992 victory, was recently awarded the freedom of his county - following in the illustrious footsteps of Shay Given, Packie Bonner and Daniel
O'Donnell to become the first GAA player to be honoured like this in the Hills. We joined Anthony as he relived his moment of glory and was reacquainted with old friends.

So make sure you join us on Friday 24th June for the start of a new season and the show will be repeated on Sunday June 26th at 1:10pm on RTE One right before the live match on The Sunday Game.
