Already facing the prospect of being without Diarmuid Connolly for next Saturday's replay following his late red card against Mayo, Dublin may also have to plan without Philly McMahon, who was lucky not to be sent off today.

The CCCC is likely to take a dim view on a 41st minute incident in which the Dublin corner back appeared to headbutt Mayo's Aidan O'Shea. No action was taken by referee Joe McQuillan at the time, but the incident was captured by TV cameras.

Connolly, meanwhile, was sent off after a late tangle with opponent Lee Keegan, who escaped with a yellow. It's expected that Dublin will appeal the straight red card.

The Dubs are also sweating on the fitness of full back Rory O'Carroll, who was forced off in the opening minutes with a head wound which required 10 stitches.

See the headbutt incident below.
