Dublin adapted too the greasy conditions better and took control of proceedings early on. David Lacey opened the scoring with a fine point and soon after Ross McGarry raised Dublin's first green flag from the penalty spot. Darragh Nolan got the home side on the scoreboard after 8 minutes but Dublin responded with another goal. Hugh Kenny netted after a mix up in the Royal defence.

Colm Coyle's Meath got back in to the game with a Conor Frayne point and a goal from Conal Ahearn after good work by Saran O'Fionnagain. Meath's mini revival was halted just before the break when Kenny completed his hat trick and Dublin went in at the break 4-3 to 1-4 in front.

The home side played with the aid of the wind in the second half. Midfielder Cian Swaine sent over a fine point and Tom Fadden followed with a like score to give the Royals some hope. But that was quickly extinguished when Kenny found the back of the Meath net for the 4th time. Freyne added two points to the Royal tally before Dublin closed out the game.
