Tiernan McCann will have his appeal against an eight-week ban for diving heard tonight by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC).

McCann was handed the suspension by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) in the days after Tyrone's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final victory over Monaghan, having come in for some heavy criticism for throwing himself to the ground upon having his hair tousled by Farney opponent Darren Hughes, who was sent off as result.

The CCCC cited the Killyclogher club man under the rule relating to discrediting the Association.

It fills an already busy schedule for the CHC at Croke Park tonight, when the appeals from two players arising from last month's Dublin-Armagh challenge game will also be heard.

It was believed that Dublin and Armagh had only been served with €5,000 fines arising from a pre-match brawl after which Dublin's Davey Byrne had to be hospitalised with facial injuries.

Tomorrow (Thursday) night will see Mayo defender Kevin Keane put forth his argument against the red card he received in the Connacht champions' quarter-final win over Donegal, as he looks to get freed up for his county's All-Ireland semi-final with Dublin on August 30th, while there are also matters arising from the Galway-Armagh qualifier game.

Both Mayo and Tyrone are said to be confident in getting their respective suspensions overturned.
