Dublin are keeping their fingers crossed that the injury sustained by James McCarthy in last night's SF challenge against Clare isn't serious.

The Ballymun Kickhams clubman limped off before half-time, with Darren Daly coming on to take his place. With full back Rory O'Carroll also struggling with a hamstring problem, Dublin could be without two of their defensive lynchpins when they open their Leinster SFC defence against the winners of tomorrow's first round clash between Offaly and Longford on May 31.

The challenge at Miltown Malbay's Hennessy Park resulted in a 4-13 to 0-14 victory for Jim Gavin's men. Early goals from Bernard Brogan and Dean Rock had the visitors perched on a 2-8 to 0-5 lead at half-time, with Bernard and Alan Brogan raising further green flags in the second half.
