Meath's Conor Gillespie says there's no way of knowing if the Royals have closed the gap on Dublin unless they meet in a Leinster final.
The neighbouring counties have contested the last three provincial finals with the Dubs prevailing by three points in 2012, seven points in 2013 and 16 points last year. They are odds-on to meet again on Leinster's big day this summer, having operated in different divisions during the league.
"You'll only find that out in Croke Park in the Leinster final," the Summerhill clubman replied when asked if Meath were ready to challenge Jim Gavin's team. "You can talk all you want about it until then but the proof is in the pudding.
"I do think we have developed a bit more strength in depth," Gillespie continues in The Irish Daily Mirror. "A lot of lads have come in for their first league and have done well. Brian Power, James McEntee, Adam Flanagan - they're adding more depth. That's ultimately strengthened the squad going into the championship."
